Games We Play

It is worth saying to begin with, you are not limited to this! Please turn up and play whatever makes you happy – the only requirement is that you have an opponent! These are just that games that have found popularity here, and you will always be able to find someone to talk to about.

Warmachine

Warmachine is a 32mm scale skirmish to small battle wargame (25-35 miniatures per player), themed with steampunk/dieselpunk elements. Hulking machines and beasts of war battle it out under the control of your armies General, while the rest of the army fights around them. Players can layer multiple buffs and debuffs to help themselves or hinder their opponent whilst vying for control of areas of the board in this strong scenario based gameplay.

If you are interested in learning more about Warmachine, please speak to Dom, either on the WhatsApp community (find him in the Tivvy-Machine group) or in person at a meet night. Alternatively, for a more broad look at the game, here is the official website: Warmachine at Steamforged Games

Blood Bowl

Blood Bowl is a chaotic two player turn based board game, set in a fantasy world of Humans, Orcs, Elves, Lizardmen and many other interesting races using 28mm or 32mm miniatures. Each team consists of 11-16 models per player, and is played on a field roughly based around American Football. Star Players can really spice things up, and no two games are ever the same. Starter sets are available, but the game also has a strong after-market including totally custom 3D printed miniatures.

If you are interested in learning more, you can either ask Matt at a club meet, or join and ask in the WhatsApp community chat; predictably, you can find him in the Blood Bowl group. Alternatively, checkout the official website here: Blood Bowl at Games Workshop

Warhammer 40K

Warhammer 40,000 or 40k is the world’s biggest and most popular table top wargame. It’s a game we’re players assemble an army each and then proceed to battle it out whilst trying to carry out missions to win.

In tiverton, we have a thriving 40k community, with players for all styles (narrative, casual and competitive). It’s a friendly community with players often helping each other with rules and focusing on having a good time.

In addition we have the occasional apocalypse game, with custom rules and a focus on light hearted narrative fun.

Models are primarily available from Games Workshop, with combat patrols being a good starting point. However, the smaller scale “Kill team” also provides an excellent starting point when looking to get into the game.

Warhammer Kill Team

“There is no peace among the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.”

Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is a fast-paced, squad-level skirmish game set in the grim darkness of the far future. Unlike the grand battles of Warhammer 40,000, where entire armies clash across war-torn worlds, Kill Team focuses on elite operatives—small, specialized teams deployed behind enemy lines for sabotage, assassination, and reconnaissance missions.

Whether you’re a veteran of the 41st Millennium or a newcomer to the setting, Kill Team offers an intense tactical experience with deep customization and cinematic action.

If you are interested in learning more about Kill Team, please speak to Rhys, either on the WhatsApp community or in person at a meet night.
