Duration
- 8 club sessions between now and Autumn Admonition
- 4 game sizes to play (30, 50, 75 and 100)
- 2 club sessions per game size allocated
Growth
Each stage builds upon the list from previous stages. Eg. Your 50pt list is your 30pt list + 20 more points, and so on. Cohort models with modular options can be changed between stages to help with making the points fit around additions, but the loadouts (and list) are fixed for the remainder of the stage.
Removing models from a list – this should generally not be done as the idea is to grow from a small seed to a full force, but there are a couple of exceptions.
- Starting at the 50 pt stage you can add a second leader to your roster to replace the first. This leader must be used for that stage, though you can opt to change back to the original leader at the start of the next stage, as your list is fixed for the stage.
- Colossals. As colossals can cost more than the point increments, upon starting the 75 or 100pt stages, you can remove models from your list to allow the colossal to fit. (Eg. If you want a 31pt colossal, this exceeds the 25 point growth for the stage, and so you can remove 6 points of units/solos.) Alternatively, you can remove one cohort model and gain any excess points to spend on units/solos instead. (Eg. In the same example as above, if you dropped a 13pt cohort model, you would then have 7pts to spend on additional units/solos).
Games
These will be tracked by Longshanks on the journeyman event here: https://warmachine.longshanks.org/event/36716/
30 and 50pt stages should be missions from “Tales of the Frontlines”. 75pts can choose between Frontlines and Steamroller. 100pts should should preferably use Steamroller scenarios, but its not a hard rule.
Note – while the length of each stage is based around quantity of club sessions, these games can be played anywhere and still logged towards the league. Go go kitchentable-machine!
League Points
During each stage league points can be earnt for:
- Paint a leader (attainable only twice in the league)
- Paint one or more units
- Paint one or more cohorts
- Paint all of the models added during this stage
- Play at least 1 game
- Play 5 or more games
- Played at least 1 game Vs every player in the league
Painted models must have a minimum of 3 colours and a flocked/textured/sculpted base.
If you’re using the journeyman to rediscover an older faction (or one that you’re not familiar with) that is already fully painted, then the painting points can be awarded to any other qualifying model painted in that period.
Do over
A player can have one do-over in the league. If things aren’t working for them, they can either:
- Rebuild their core list up to the current stage
- Replace their army with another (such as change from CG to WK)
To do either of these options will require the player to sacrifice their game results score (league points for painting models etc remain). This is to dissuade people from using this option to tactically increase their odds at a midpoint of the league after doing well in earlier stages. If someone is genuinely struggling with their army build/selection, then this sacrifice shouldn’t matter as much. However the underlying goal of the league is to enjoy growing an army and learning its interactions inside out, rather than topping the leader boards at all costs.
