The Orgoth have returned. Led by a dire prophecy back to the lands they once ruled,
they have made war on the nations of the Iron Kingdoms with more than simple
conquest in mind. They seek nothing less than the destruction of the gods themselves.
After obtaining an immensely powerful infernal artifact, the Orgoth are closer to their
goal, but they have a new target-the dragon Blighterghast. The great wyrm’s death
would secure an alliance with the dread empire of Cryx, and the combined might of
the Orgoth and the Dragonfather Toruk would drown the Iron Kingdoms in blood.
In order to stem the tide of horror and destruction, the nations of the Iron Kingdoms
have banded together in a tenuous alliance and now find themselves in the uniquely
bizarre position of Blighterghast’s defenders. The Orgoth have attacked the dragon
and begun an abominable ritual to bring about the wyrm’s death. It is clear
Blighterghast is doomed, but all is not lost. If the defenders can keep the dragon alive
long enough, they may interrupt the ritual and derail the Orgoth’s awful plan.
Blighterghast is not without his own machinations, however. The dragon’s champion,
watching the battle from the shadows, will award his favor to the worthiest and tip
the balance of power in the brutal wars to come.
Unfortunatley…. we don’t have a huge-ass dragon. But we can do the next best thing with Blighterghast hanging just out of site off the table 😉
This event will use the “Dragonfall at Home” scenario from the app, that I will reproduce for sharing on the day in case you aren’t subscribed, but the essential details are:
- Each player gets 75pts
- Players will be split into two teams – attackers and defenders
- Everyone plays together on one large 8×4 table, with team turns happening simultaneously/in parallel
- There will be board wide effects as Blighterghast throws his weight around
- Leader death does *not* mean that you are out of the game, you continue to activate your remaining troops and autonomous/wild cohort models to the bitter end
I don’t know how long this scenario will take, but we have the hall for the day, so once it is complete, we can fall back to casual gaming. This is to be a fun and lighthearted affair following all of the competitive events (my own, and the Welsh Masters) over the last couple of months. As such, the rule of cool is key – proxies are welcome.
